Buyer Beware! Medicare Open Enrollment and Fraud

Elaine Deppe, a Senior Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP) volunteer, will talk about the Medicare options available to individuals during Open Enrollment. She will highlight the ways fraudsters entice victims to reveal personal information and maybe “sell” them a false policy. Many kinds of Medicare fraud will be discussed: double billing, “free” medical devices, up-coding a service and more. You’ll also hear about who to contact about errors on the documents you receive from Medicare about the claims submitted by your service providers, be they billing errors or fraud.
