Happy World Kindness Day! Kindness is all around us, so long as we pause to look for it. What is something nice you have noticed today? Better yet, what is something nice you have done today? Big or small, all acts of kindness count! A small gesture can make someone’s entire day.
Did you know that kindness is scientifically proven to have positive health benefits? Studies show that selflessness and positivity can lower pain, stress, anxiety, and even blood pressure while increasing happiness and energy! Kindness can’t cure you, but it can certainly make you feel better in the short and long term.
I have noticed so much kindness across Generations Ashe. Step into the Adult Day Center to be showered with random acts of kindness. Be it a heartfelt hug, a handmade note, a flower plucked from outside, or an honest smile, the Adult Day Center is overflowing with care.
This care is not limited to the Adult Day Center, though. I have witnessed and received immeasurable kindness from staff, volunteers, and clients all over Generations. I’m sure many of you have felt this kindness too. Take a moment to call out individuals in our community who have positively impacted you.
While you consider the kindness of others, I encourage you to direct those thoughts inward as well. Have you done something nice for yourself today? Treat yourself like a friend. As silly as this sounds, compliment yourself, recognize your accomplishments, and allow yourself to rest today. We can often be our own harshest critics, and it can be challenging at times to give ourselves grace. You deserve just as much kindness as anyone else.
Whether you know it or not, your kindness has made a lasting impact on someone. You make our community better every day by being a part of it. Thank you!
