Without transportation, our neighbors and friends can be left alone and unsupported at home. When owning or driving a car is out of reach or becomes too difficult, food insecurity is a real concern for older adults and those with disabilities. People without transportation may not be able to get to a doctor’s appointment or a pharmacy – which can become a barrier to health and well-being.
For volunteers with time, a vehicle, and a desire to work independently and outside, driving opportunities abound. If you’ve been looking for a way to volunteer in the community but haven’t found your niche, please join an AARP panel of volunteer coordinators to explore “Driving for Positive Solutions” on October 27th at noon.
