The 17th Annual School Supply Drive began June 7th and will end August 6th. Donation boxes will be set up in Generations Ashe Administrative Office and Senior Center, Ashe County Library, all LifeStore banks, First Citizens Bank, United Chemi-Con, Ingles, Jefferson Drug, Medi-Home Health & Hospice, and 5/3 Bank.
Monetary donations are greatly appreciated as well. School supplies that are donated are divided equally among all six Ashe County Schools. The guidance counselors will give supplies to the children in need.
While North Carolina is not having a tax-free weekend this year, Tennessee’s tax-free weekend is July 30th through August 1st. South Carolina and Virginia are offering a tax-free weekend on August 6th through August 8th.
Thank you for helping our youth succeed in school by donating much needed items. The school supply drive is sponsored by the Ashe County Volunteer Initiative Program and we are partnering with Channel 9 WSOC, www.9schooltools.com.
