“When I moved in, I thought the end of the world had come…I tried not to like it here, but it was so interesting…I did like it! And it has become one of the grandest places I have ever lived!”
-Generations Assisted Living and Memory Care Resident
The above quote is a perfect example of how many residents feel about our Assisted Living and Memory Care community. The choice is never easy to come here, and sometimes it isn’t 100% their choice to begin with, but a combination of circumstances that make it the safest decision for them. However, after a few days, they discover what is just so special about this place. Each day is a new opportunity to build friendships, enjoy engaging activities, and receive care they know they can count on. But most importantly, it is a secure place that they can call a home away from home.
In 2011, the beautiful facility opened and we embraced a new and exciting expansion of services for our organization. Over the last 13 years, countless memories have been made and the hearts of residents, family members and staff have been blessed. As you can imagine, over the years, normal wear and tear is beginning to show on our building. Our hope in 2025 is to replace the lighting throughout the entire facility, as well as provide landscaping updates to the outside.
Lighting has a significant impact on residents living with dementia and is shown to increase mood among all residents. Despite our tedious maintenance efforts, our current light fixtures are starting to crack and are in need of replacing. We hope to replace all bulbs with higher lumen, which has been shown to have a positive impact on both residents and staff.
Also, there is nothing that makes a place feel more like home than beautiful landscaping. Being able to go sit in the courtyard and enjoy the surroundings is one of the little things that can make a resident feel happy and at peace. We would like to add new mulch and river rock in the courtyards, and add some new plants such as barberry, rose bushes and crepe myrtles for our residents to enjoy.
Your contribution of any amount will go directly to the projects mentioned above. But more importantly, you will be part of a community that can continue to be “one of the grandest places” to live.
We are extremely grateful for your trust and investment in our organization. Our hope is that you would consider giving and continue your generous support.
Sincerely,
Jane Banks, Generations Ashe Foundation, Inc.
