Meet Henry, an Ashe County native who is well known and loved in his community. Living alone, Henry was in need of some extra help, and Generations Ashe Community Alternatives Program (CAP) was a great fit for him.
If you are not familiar, the Community Alternatives Program allows community residents a pathway to remain in their own home where they are most comfortable, while also receiving the care and supports they need to live the fullest life possible. Our CAP case mangers work diligently to connect each participant with the resources they need such as in-home aide services, medical supplies and home delivered meals.
Henry has a caring and compassionate in-home aide, Peggy, who helps him be able to remain home, something that is very important to him.
“The CAP program has done a whole lot for me. Jessica [Mooneyhan, CAP Director] got with my friends and got me the help that I needed. She came looking for me the morning after the big hurricane hit. Now I have a helper, Peggy. She is a good person and does so much for me. She is a real good cook.”

“CAP has put services in place that help [Henry] remain safely at home and assist his family and friend with supporting him.”
